Mission Statement

The duty of the Oroville Police Department is to safeguard the lives and property of those we serve and to hold perpetrators accountable for their actions. Through community partnership, we promise to work diligently every day to reduce the incidence of crime and improve the quality of life. Our mandate is to do so with honor and integrity, while at all times conducting ourselves with the highest ethical standards to maintain public confidence.

Oroville residents are strongly encouraged to know their zones, in partnership with the Butte County Sheriff's Office and other local first responder agencies, an easy-to-use interactive evacuation map has been developed to assist the community with staying updated on latest evacuation updates.

Meet the Police Chiefs

Interim Chief Jason Wines

In January of 2025, Chief Jason Wines assumed his position of Interim Chief of Police. Chief wines has an extensive background in Law Enforcement with over 25 years of experience. Chief Wines, as U.S. Navy Veteran and form Chief Investigator for the Butte County District Attorney's Office.

As Interim Chief, Wines plans to focus on Officer training and standards and proactive and reactive crime prevention to protect businesses, live and property in the City of Oroville and build and uplift the youth of Oroville to reduce juvenile-related crimes.

Department Goals: Reduce Crime and Improve Quality of Life. 

Our Expectations: Integrity, Honesty, Accountability, Respect of Others, Cooperative, Positive Attitude, and Professional Demeanor.
