Housing Element
The Housing Element is a special part of Oroville's overall plan for how the city will grow. This part focuses on housing and making sure everyone in Oroville has a place to live. It spells out what the city wants to achieve with housing, the guidelines it will use, and the actions it will take to help people find homes.
California says that every city and county must plan to meet the housing needs of all its residents. Oroville does this by having a Housing Element as part of its bigger city plan. These Housing Elements get updated regularly, either every five or eight years. The current plan covers the years from 2022 to 2030. It was first approved as complete on March 16, 2023, Then, the Oroville City Council officially agreed to it on April 18, 2023. After that, the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) gave it their final approval on May 3, 2023.
