Teen Docent Project (TDP)
The Teen Docent Project strengthens museum support while providing mentoring and skill-building opportunities for teens.

Increase docent support within city museums.

Offer mentoring and hands-on learning experiences for teens.
π Program Overview
The Oroville Docent Association, City of Oroville, and Parks Commission collaborate to recruit 10β20 youth docents. This program:

Supports museum operations during weekend hours.

Enhances docent safety & security.
-
Encourages community engagement.
-
Provides enrichment activities for teens.

Builds leadership and teamwork skills.

Gives students a letter of recommendation from their lead docent and a certificate of recognition for college, scholarships, and job applications.

Commit to 8 hours per month in a city museum for one school semester.

Be in 9thβ12th grade and maintain a 2.5+ GPA during the program.

Must complete docent training and orientation, including a review of the docent safety manual.

A minimum of one museum staff or docent will always be on shift when a teen is present.
This project offers teens a unique opportunity to gain leadership experience, connect with history, and serve their community!
